Tony Finau What’s in the Bag – Witb 2024

Tony Finau’s journey to golf stardom is an inspiring one. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Tongan and Samoan parents, Tony’s first introduction to the world of competition wasn’t on the golf course, but through fire-knife dancing, a traditional Samoan ritual. The third eldest of seven siblings, Tony found himself surrounded by family support.

Golf came into Tony’s life at a young age, but not with fancy equipment. He honed his skills using cut-down clubs found at thrift stores, practicing at Rose Park Golf Course in his hometown. Talent blossomed quickly, and by 2006, Tony had already claimed the Utah State Amateur title. He turned professional before even turning 18, showcasing his early potential.

Tony’s professional career took him through competitions on the PGA Tour Canada and the Web.com Tour. He didn’t shy away from challenges, even appearing on the Golf Channel’s “The Big Break” in 2009 alongside his brother Gipper, where he finished a close second. Finally, in 2014, Tony secured his PGA Tour card, a significant milestone in his golfing dream.

Since then, Tony has become a consistent force on the PGA Tour. He secured his first PGA Tour win in 2016 at the Puerto Rico Open and has added five more victories to his name. He’s represented the United States in prestigious events like the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup, inspiring many with his remarkable rise from humble beginnings.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Tony Finau’s golf bag is a mix of new and old. He uses Ping clubs for most of his irons, wedges, and putter, while his driver and a driving iron are from other brands. This shows he chooses clubs based on performance, not just sticking with one company. Interestingly, the Nike driving iron is the only Nike club left in his bag, since Nike stopped making golf equipment in 2016.
